Flick admits Barcelona youngsters have to improve

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has admitted that his players have to improve as they prepare to face surprise Champions League team Brest on Tuesday. The Blaugrana blew a 2-0 lead with less than 10 minutes on the clock at the weekend when they played away at Celta Vigo to draw 2-2.

The result was disappointing not because they missed the opportunity to win but also because it means Barcelona have gone two fixtures without a victory after the 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad before the international break.

Although Barcelona still remains at the top of the La Liga table, the lead has been cut to just four points, while second-place Real Madrid still has a game in hand.

French side Breast has started their UEFA Champions League campaign in style, sitting in fourth place and unbeaten in four matches, one point ahead of Barcelona and two places ahead of them on the table.

Perhaps it is understandable that the German manager wants a better performance from his players as he called for improvements.

“We have to improve; that’s normal. We have to give confidence to the youngsters and create a positive atmosphere. We have a young team; we are doing things very well. Although not so much in the matches. The whole team must be well connected, in defense and in the attack. We must be well connected.” Flick said.

Brest has started their debut Champions League campaign in style, winning three and sharing the spoils once in the UCL this season, although their domestic form has suffered as they have only picked thirteen points from twelve games so far.

Barcelona will be without Lamine Yamal on Tuesday after the youngster was confirmed out till December due to injury.

Also on Tuesday, fellow La Liga side Atletico Madrid will travel to the Czech Republic to face Sparta Prague, while Real Madrid will be at Anfield stadium on Wednesday to face Premier League leaders Liverpool.
