Lampard at Risk as Chelsea Gets Beaten 3-1 By Rampant Manchester City

Frank Lampard’s job as Chelsea manager has come under threat after his team lost 3-1 against Manchester City on Sunday evening in the English Premier League.

Three goals in 16 first-half minutes from Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City led them to a comfortable victory at Stamford Bridge.

Ilkay Gundogan in the 18th minute, followed by a Phil Foden strike 3 minutes later, and another Kevin De Bruyne goal in the 32nd minute put Manchester City to a comfortable first half.

Meanwhile, the second half did not see many goals scored, but Callum Hudson-Odoi scored a consolation for Chelsea in the game’s final minute.

The loss is Chelsea’s fourth in seven games, and the latest result has put Lampard’s position as the team’s Manager in jeopardy as it is being reported that Chelsea has started looking for replacements.

Chelsea will face Morecambe in the FA Cup on the 10th of January at Stamford Bridge. Manchester City will face Manchester United in the EFL Cup on Wednesday before another cup tie against Birmingham next weekend.

Leicester City beat Newcastle at Saint James’ Park on Sunday afternoon 2-1 as James Maddison, and Youri Tielemans scored in the second half before an Andy Carroll goal in the 82nd minute put a frantic end to the game.

However, the Foxes managed to hold on to the lead, and they sit in the third position with two points from 17 games, one point behind Liverpool and Manchester City, who are joint top of the Premier League.

Manchester City sits in the fifth position with 29 points, and Chelsea dropped to 8th with 26 points from 17 games.

In other matches played on Saturday, Tottenham Hotspurs beat Leeds United 3-0 as Son Heung-Min scored his 100 club goal for Tottenham while Harry Kane also got on the scoresheet.

Crystal Palace beat Sheffield United 2-0 while Brighton and Wolves played a 3-3 draw. Arsenal got their third win in a row with a 4-0 thrashing of West Brom at The Hawthorns.

On Monday night, Liverpool and Southampton will play at the Anfield stadium.
