Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell feels Mikel Arteta may opt for business by selling Kieran Tierney for the right offer

Former Arsenal player Kevin Campbell feels that the club may look to cash in on Kieran Tierney if other clubs come up with a good offer. He feels that even Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta may think about doing business if the right price is offered this summer.

Manchester City were on a lookout for a left back with Oleksandr Zinchecnko rumoured to leave the club. Kieran Tierney with his immense potential can fulfill that role with aplomb and therefore the Cityzens are excited about the Arsenal fullback.

Tierney joined Arsenal from Celtic in the summer of 2019 for £25 million. He immediately became a starter at the Emirates Stadium and people were really impressed with his consistent performances. Tierney delivered some exceptional performances as he brought a different sort of calmness to this young lineup.

But the primary concern around Tierney is his persistent injury problems. He missed most of his debut season due to injury and has continued to struggle with injury issues.

While Campbell has no issues with Tierney being sold, he does not believe that it will happen. He shares how Arsenal will think many times before giving up on the Scotsman considering his quality and capability to develop into a captain in coming years.

However Campbell questions his persistent injury record and feels that this might be a chance for Arsenal to get the right price for him as they may not get that chance again if the Scotsman gets injured again in the near future.

“He won’t go but football is a business at the end of the day. If Manchester City made it work in whatever way and it was beneficial for Arsenal then maybe they would be compelled to do the business. You have to remember, players will come and go. It would have to be worth Arsenal’s while if they were to let him go though,” Kevin Campbell stated while speaking with Football Insider.

He shared how people consider him as a future captain material but his point of argument remains around his fitness issues. These persistent injury problems will only regress his performances as a footballer and then it will be tough for him to captainArsenal in the long run. “People talk about him being captain material. He has suffered with injuries though. It might be something that Arteta looks at and says, ‘Let’s do the business’. It would all depend on what City would be willing to offer,” he concluded.

The Gunners were in prime position to get back to the Champions League but they finished the season poorly and by the virtue of which they finished fifth in the standings and will feature in the Europa League. Arsenal need to bring in reinforcements this summer and having Champions League football was important for Arteta but now his difficulties have only increased.

However they have secured the services of former Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus as they feel that the Brazilian will be ideal to lead their lines in the upcoming season.
