Former Spurs forward Robbie Keane urges Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag to start Jadon Sancho in the EFL Cup final following his outing against Leicester City

Manchester United looked good in their 3-0 win over Leicester City as Jadon Sancho had a sensational impact from the bench. He scored the third goal for the Red Devils and had a very positive presence on the field. Hence former Tottenham Hotspur striker Robbie Kean has advised United boss Erik ten Hag to start Jadon Sancho in their upcoming Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United.

The Red devils will look to focus on the upcoming cup competitions where they will also face FC Barcelona in the second leg of the Europa League after the first leg ended in a 1-1 draw. Ten Hag will also want to win silverware and therefore will have to focus on the upcoming Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United.

The Red Devils are eager to land a silverware and if they manage to do it then it will be their first since 2017. So Ten Hag is tasked with the responsibility of overpowering Eddie Howe’s Magpies in the finals as they travel to Wembley.

Looking at the current form, Kean feels Sancho should start for United in the upcoming finals. Speaking on his performance against Leicester City, Keane told Sky Sports, “It was very good from the manager bringing Jadon Sancho on. I thought he played great. I think it was Sancho that changed the game actually. His introduction certainly helped Man United.”

“He brought a different dynamic to the game. He looks back to himself, and he looks sharp. He played his way into the team for next week’s final with that performance,” the legendary striker added.

It was a game where Sancho marked his return after a spell of poor form, bad performances and several other off field issues. So it was really special for the young English winger who is rated very highly by everyone in and around English football.

But before Sancho’s inspiring performance on the night, it was Marcus Rashford who simply cannot stop scoring and is in sensational form. Rashford who has been on the scoring spree for the club scored a brilliant brace before Sancho scored the third coming off the bench.

Sancho was left out of the United squad and also missed the flight to the Qatar World Cup after Gareth Southgate also decided to pick other over the former Dortmund winger. So Sancho had spent three months in the Netherlands, where he focused on individual training. It must have been mentally taxing for the youngster to see his teammates play for their respective countries at the World Cup but now he has returned back to the player he once was and it was clear from his recent appearance against Leicester City.

Now it remains to be seen how Ten Hag manages the workload of the players and whether he hands Sancho the start that the youngster deserves in the big Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United.
