Haaland hoping to become better ahead of Copenhagen game

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland says he will continue to try to improve as a player after missing some critical chances in his last few games for Manchester City, which has given him the reality that he is not at the best level yet.

Although the striker is the top scorer in the Premier League this season and scored 80 goals in 84 appearances for the treble winners, he is still at the top of the Premier League’s ‘big chances missed’ log with 26.

The 23-year-old scored five for Manchester City in their FA Cup win over Luton Town last week and also netted Manchester City’s third goal in their 3-1 win over Manchester United in the Manchester derby over the weekend.

He missed a lot of chances earlier in the first half that could have won the game for the side, a similar scenario to his performance against Chelsea in the 1-1 draw with the Blues last month, where he missed some of Manchester City’s biggest chances in the match.

The Norwegian admitted, ahead of Manchester City’s second-leg fixture against FC Copenhagen on Wednesday, that he will try and get better.

“There’s a lot of things I can become better at. People say I’m good at scoring goals, but I missed the biggest chance in the world ever two days ago. I can also become better at that; it’s been a challenge. When I was young, I would start crying if we lost, and I missed a lot of chances. I’ve been working on it a lot, and it’s been a challenge. I demand a lot from myself, and my teammates demand a lot from me. You can think about it in two ways. One, I came here and won it all; the other, I’m 23 years old and got the taste of it how it is to win everything, and when I feel this, I want to win it again. Easy as that.” Haaland said.

Manchester City will face the Danish side at Etihad on Wednesday with a 3-1 advantage from the first leg.
