Former United star believes Manchester United can bring in Real Madrid Brazilian star

Manchester United could be capable of tempting Vinicius Junior away from Real Madrid if Michael Carrick is appointed as the club’s permanent manager, according to former Red Devils striker Louis Saha.

With optimism returning to Old Trafford under Carrick’s interim leadership, United are expected to be active in the 2026 summer transfer window and may even consider a high-profile move for the Brazilian superstar.

Vinicius’ long-term future at Real Madrid has become a talking point amid managerial uncertainty at the Santiago Bernabeu.

While the winger is said to be happier now than during his time under former boss Xabi Alonso, Madrid are currently being led on a caretaker basis by Alvaro Arbeloa, adding to speculation around potential changes both on and off the pitch.

United find themselves in a similar situation, with Carrick in charge on a short-term deal until the end of the 2025-26 season.

However, a strong run of form has reignited their push for Champions League qualification, something that would significantly boost their appeal to elite players.

Saha believes that a combination of attractive football and European ambition could make United a genuine destination for someone of Vinicius’ stature.

Speaking about the possibility of a Premier League move, Saha suggested that United’s resurgence under Carrick should not be underestimated.

He highlighted Vinicius’ desire to compete for individual honours such as the Ballon d’Or and argued that playing a central role in a revitalised United side could provide the platform the Brazilian needs to further elevate his profile.

Carrick’s impressive start has also strengthened his case to be considered for the permanent managerial role.

Since taking over, he has overseen four consecutive victories against Manchester City, Arsenal, Fulham, and Tottenham, prompting praise for both results and performances.

Saha, who played alongside Carrick during his own United career, believes the former midfielder understands the club’s culture and pressures better than most.

Despite the positive momentum, United are yet to make a final decision on their next long-term manager, with high-profile names such as Carlo Ancelotti and Zinedine Zidane also reportedly under consideration.
