Simone Inzaghi has penned a farewell letter to the Inter Milan supporters, management, and club staff after confirming his exit.
The club had announced that the former Lazio manager has left his position as head coach by mutual consent.
As Inter have confirmed the mutual agreement, today makes it exactly four years since he was appointed.
The news comes just three days after Inter lost 5-0 to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final, the heaviest-ever defeat in a European final.
According to reports, the 49-year-old will join Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal in time for the start of the FIFA Club World Cup. His first game will be against Real Madrid on June 18.
Inzaghi had, during his stint, won six trophies. This includes the club’s historic 20th league title, two Coppa Italia trophies, and three from the Supercoppa Italiana. He also led Nerazzurri to two Champions League finals in three years but lost the last match on both occasions (1-0 vs. Manchester City in 2023 and 5-0 against PSG in 2025).
His farewell letter reads below.
“Dear Nerazzurri family. The time has come for me to say goodbye to this club after a four-year journey, during which I gave everything.
“Every day, I dedicated my first and last thought to Inter. I was met with professionalism and passion by the players, managers, and every single employee at the club.
“The six trophies won, including the Scudetto with the second star, as well as the pain of the Champions League in 2023 and a few days ago, are testimony to how much my work has been supported by my staff and every Inter member.
“I thank the shareholders for the trust that has never been lacking, the President and his collaborators for their daily help and communication. On a difficult day like today, I think it is right to reiterate this sense of gratitude after the talks that ended a short while ago. We were sincere and decided, together, to conclude this magnificent journey.
“I want to dedicate one last word to the millions of Nerazzurri fans who cheered me on, who suffered in difficult moments and laughed and celebrated in the six triumphs we experienced together.
“I will never forget you. Forza Inter.”
