Lazio striker, Ciro Immobile, and his AC Milan counterpart, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, have extended their stay with the respected Serie A clubs.
Immobile, an Italian international, officially signed a new deal with the Biancocelesti to stay with the club until 2025. He had emerged the league’s highest goal scorer with 36 goals, equaling 36 set by Gonzalo Higuain at Napoli and Gino Rossetti.
The development was revealed by Lazio’s communications director Stefano De Martino while speaking with Lazio Style Channel.
De Martino said committing the striker to the Biancocelesti for another five years is a professional choice. He further said the decision made by the last season’s Capocannoniere was a heartfelt and familiar choice.
The director said the club decided to announce it immediately after the signing was done a few hours ago. According to him, this is because Immobile is being followed by top European teams, who are monitoring his contract situation at the club.
With this development, De Martino said Lazio showed its desire to cement its last season’s achievement and further improve the squad. He, therefore, hinted that the club would be doing some transfers in the next coming days.
Immobile recorded 36 goals in 37 Serie A games last season. This takes his tally to 125 in 178 games for Lazio since his move to the club in July 2016. according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the new deal worths €4m a season.
Meanwhile, Ibrahimovic also put pen to paper to sign another one year contract at the San Siro. The new contract worth €7m per season will see him stay at the club till June 2021.
He will be wearing the No11 Jersey for the Italian giants, who will be returning to Europe next season after finishing the league in the 6th place.
The Swede confirmed the development via his Instagram handle, where he said he would be putting down the number 21 jersey.
