It’s a big challenge to stay hungry and go for the next one – Thomas Tuchel

Chelsea’s manager Thomas Tuchel has urged his team to stay hungry after taking them to glory in the UEFA Champions League. Chelsea defeated Manchester City at Estadio do dragao, Portugal by 1-0 on Saturday. Kai Havertz scored in the 42nd minute for the Blues after an assist from Mason Mount.

Meanwhile, Tuchel had taken over as Chelsea’s manager back in January from Frank Lampard and he has done an amazing job in getting the best out of his players.

“The level is set and once the celebrations are over and we’ve all digested this experience, it’s the moment to grow, to use it to become better,” Tuchel told reporters.

“It’s absolutely crucial that we do that. It’s a big challenge to stay hungry and go for the next one. I feel hungry, part of a really ambitious club and a strong group that supports my beliefs in football perfectly.”

“It was a huge achievement to arrive in the final and even bigger to fight our way to the Cup,” Tuchel said.

Kai Havertz, who scored his maiden UCL goal in the final against City was on cloud nine after winning the Champions League.

Kai Havertz said, “I don’t know what to say. I waited a long time,” jubilant Havertz said post win on the pitch. “I’ve waited 15 years for this moment and now it’s here.”

“He (Havertz) deserves that, it’s been a tough season,” said Chelsea skipper Cesar Azpilicueta.

On the other hand, N’golo Kante had a superb match for Chelsea and he was awarded the Player of the match. Tuchel added that the Frenchman does everything for them and he covered so much ground in the final.

“He does everything,” Tuchel said. “The energy he brings, I don’t know how many ball recoveries today (Saturday). He covered so much ground. It’s special to have him and when we don’t have him we miss him. After winning the World Cup, the Champions League, he’s so humble in his position.”
