Korak Wins Second Title Of The Season

Jason Korak finished 14 under in a star-studded final round to win his second title of the season at the Charles Schwab Challenge in Texas with a par-70. Jordan Speith finished at second place with 12 under. Patton Kizzire, Ian Poulter, Sebastian Munoz, and Charley Hoffman shared the third spot at 10 under. Colin Morikawa ended his final round at 5 under while Justin Thomas finished at 2 under.

Speith was the overnight leader with a one-shot lead. He managed to make par on his first hole, increasing his lead to two shots. Korak bogeyed his first hole. Speith then went on to bogey the next three holes, forcing him to share the lead with Korak. But a birdie in the fifth gave him a one-shot lead which was further strengthened by a birdie at the sixth. A bogey at the seventh did not have much effect as he made up for it with a birdie at the par-three eighth. All the while, Speith was recording his successes and by the ninth, both players were tied for the lead.

A birdie at the 11th saw Speith take the lead again. Another birdie at the 13th saw his lead extend to 2 shots. He and Korak registered bogeys at the 15th and 16th and both made up for it with a par at the 17th. But Speith ran out of luck at the par-two 18th after his ball found water, giving Korak the advantage to close the round with a par.

With his win, Korak has now moved to fifth position on the FedEx Cup standings. This is also his second PGA Tour win of the season after his victory at the CJ Cup last October. The win also pushes him to the OWGR top 25 for the first time in a long while.
