It’s a strange situation – Alan Hutton believes Cristiano Ronaldo won’t fit into Manchester United dressing room

Former Ashton Villa defender Alan Hutton reckons Cristiano Ronaldo won’t be able to fit into Manchester United’s dressing room after his recent transfer talks. Ronaldo had earlier confirmed that he wants to leave the club and had revealed his ambition to play in the Champions League.

Earlier this week, Ronaldo arrived in Manchester to have a discussion on his future at the club. In fact, the club’s new manager Erik Ten Hag had earlier said that the Portuguese striker is not for sale.

However, despite having a discussion with the management, Ronaldo is still adamant about leaving the club, the Times reported on Thursday. Ronaldo has been linked to clubs like Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Napoli, and Athletico Madrid but nothing has been finalized yet.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo wants to play for a club that has qualified for the UEFA Champions League. The talisman had joined the Red Devils before the previous season from Juventus and had said he wants to win trophies with Manchester United. However, as the club failed to come up with a decent performance in the last edition, Ronaldo has made up his mind that he wants to leave the side.

Alan Hutton told Football Insider: “There will definitely be question marks, especially coming out the changing room. They’ll want to know exactly what’s happening.”

Meanwhile, Ronaldo also didn’t travel with the team to Thailand and Australia for the preseason matches. Ronaldo had pulled out of the preseason games due to personal reasons.

Commenting on the same, Hutton said, “It’s a strange situation, I know it’s for personal reasons so you can’t really look too much into it because we don’t actually know what it is. But to have sat out the whole pre-season and not have been anywhere near the club kind of screams to me that he just wants out.”

He added: “And whether that’s he doesn’t fancy it anymore, he wants to play Champions League football, that’s up to him.”

In fact, Ronaldo had signed a two-year deal with Manchester United with an option of extending the contract.

Hutton added, ”At the end of the day he’s got 12 months to go and I think Manchester United can add another year onto that so he could possibly have two seasons left.”
