Kim Min-Jae’s header enough to secure vital win as Bayern see out 10-man PSG

Bayern Munich recorded their seventh consecutive victory and clean sheet as they defeated Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in the Champions League at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night.

Jamal Musiala could have opened the scoring for the Bavarians early on, but he couldn’t get the ball past Matvey Safonov from a promising position after receiving a superb through ball from Joshua Kimmich.

PSG threatened at the other end on the half-hour mark, first when Warren Zaire-Emery was unable to get his shot on target as the home side looked to capitalize on a Leroy Sané error, and then when Manuel Neuer was forced into a fine save to deny Ousmane Dembélé.

Then, with 38 minutes on the clock, Bayern took the lead through Kim Min-jae, who was on hand to head the ball into the net after Safonov had failed to deal with a corner.

Kingsley Coman almost doubled the lead soon after when he broke free from Achraf Hakimi and fired just over the bar, and just before half-time, Leroy Sané was fed by Harry Kane but couldn’t get the ball past Safonov.

Things got worse for Paris Saint-Germain in the 57th minute when former Borussia Dortmund winger Ousmane Dembélé was shown a second yellow card and sent off after bringing down Alphonso Davies.

Bayern pushed for an equalizer, and Musiala went particularly close in the 74th minute when his shot was excellently parried onto the post by Safonov.

Ultimately, Bayern couldn’t extend their lead, but 1-0 was enough to take Vincent Kompany’s side to nine points after five games in the Champions League.

Bayern resume Bundesliga activities as they turn their attention to an all-Derby fixture on Saturday when they travel to the Signal Iduna Park to face Dortmund.
