Man City extends winless streak after 3-3 draw with Feyenoord

Manchester City’s struggles continued on Wednesday as they let a 3-0 lead slip against Feyenoord, ultimately settling for a 3-3 draw in the Champions League. The result marks the Cityzens’ sixth consecutive game without a win, a streak that will undoubtedly raise concerns among the team’s faithful.

The match got off to a promising start for Manchester City, with Erling Haaland converting a penalty kick in the 41st minute to give his team a 1-0 lead. The Norwegian striker’s goal was the culmination of a dominant first-half performance by the Cityzens, who created numerous scoring opportunities but were unable to capitalize on them.

The second half saw Manchester City double their advantage through an İlkay Gündoğan volley, which deflected off Dávid Hancko and into the net before Erling Haaland scored his second goal of the night to make it 3-0. However, the Cityzens’ defensive frailties soon came to the fore as Feyenoord staged an improbable comeback.

Anis Hadj-Moussa got the Rotterdam-based team on the board in the 75th minute, rounding Ederson and finishing smartly from a narrow-angle. Six minutes later, Santiago Gimenez bundled home a Jordan Lotomba knockdown to make it 3-2.

In a stunning turn of events, Feyenoord equalized in the 88th minute through Hancko’s header, which found the empty net after Ederson was caught out of position. Manchester City pushed hard for the winner in the dying moments of the game, but Jack Grealish’s deflected effort only hit the crossbar in stoppage time.

Ultimately, the Cityzens were forced to settle for a 3-3 draw, a result that will do little to alleviate the pressure on manager Pep Guardiola. Feyenoord, on the other hand, extended their unbeaten away record to 11 games in all competitions this season.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was unsure about what he saw from his team on the night.

“I don’t know if it is mental. The first goal cannot happen, and the second cannot. After that, we forget what happened; we were desperate to win and do well; we do well but don’t win games.” he said.
