Kulusevski Undergoes Knee Surgery as Spurs Eye Europa League Glory

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that midfielder Dejan Kulusevski has undergone knee surgery following an injury sustained in last weekend’s 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace. The club announced on Wednesday that the Sweden international damaged his right patella during the Premier League clash, putting his availability for the upcoming Europa League final in serious doubt.

The 25-year-old’s injury adds to Tottenham’s mounting fitness concerns, with fellow midfielder James Maddison already sidelined for the rest of the season due to a knee issue.

“We can confirm that Dejan Kulusevski suffered an injury to his right patella in our Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace last weekend,” Spurs said in an official statement. “Following further specialist consultation, the midfielder has undergone surgery today and will commence his rehabilitation with our medical staff immediately.”

While the club did not provide a specific timeline for Kulusevski’s recovery, the timing of the procedure—just days before the Europa League final—suggests he will likely miss the May 21 showdown against Manchester United in Bilbao. The final represents a crucial opportunity for Spurs to break a 17-year trophy drought, a feat that now appears even more challenging given their depleted midfield.

Kulusevski has been a key figure in Tottenham’s campaign, contributing creativity and work rate in a side that has struggled for consistency. His absence, along with Maddison’s, leaves manager Ange Postecoglou with limited options ahead of one of the most important matches in the club’s recent history.

Despite their deep run in Europe, Spurs have endured a disappointing domestic season. They currently sit 17th in the Premier League with just 38 points. Their upcoming fixtures include a visit to Aston Villa on Friday and a season finale at home against Brighton & Hove Albion on May 25.

The club will be hoping for a morale-boosting finish to the league campaign, but all eyes are now firmly set on the Europa League final. For Tottenham fans, the dream of ending years of silverware frustration is alive—but the path to glory has grown steeper with Kulusevski’s untimely setback.
