As they prepare for their preseason and the season opener against PSG, Ligue 1 champion Lille has expressed interest in Bordeaux midfielder Yacine Adli.
The 20-year-old Frenchman seems to have distinguished himself, making other top clubs in Europe court him.
His contribution helped Boprdeux to avoid getting into a relegation fight as they held on to the very last day after a chaotic season. He was a standout player who also became the technical leader of the Bordeaux midfield this season. Apart from that, he also became the locker room leader due to his strong character and maturity, making him a role model for some of his teammates.
After staying injury-free this season, Adli played 36 games. He scored an equalising goal against Reims, signifying a successful season at the club.
Lille might lure him to their side because Bordeaux could experience some changes this summer. After all, many players will be out of contract at the club.
Speaking after their 0-0 draw against Olympique Marseille, he acknowledged that there are many conflicts internally and externally at the club, adding that all these create harmful waves for players who won’t be able to play at the top of the board.
Having grown faster on the field, the former Parisien often guided his people is among the 20 players who have won the most ground duels this season in Ligue 1 (161).
Lille is pushing for his signature after losing Boubakary Soumaré to Leicester City. So, having such a leader in the team would help their Ligue 1 title defense. They will have to do the deal faster as Adli not being short of suitors.
Another thing that may aid his sales is that Bordeaux has some financial problems that might lead to the club’s sales to a future buyer. This has therefore made the chances of holding home to him minimal.
