Liverpool in Talk With Chelsea’s Willian

Liverpool are said to be in a transfer talk with Chelsea’s Brazilian Winger, Willian who will run out of contract this summer and will be available for free.

Willian sought for a three – year extension from the London club, the Blues are only interested in a 2-year extension for the player leading to talks getting to a halt.

The 31-year-old may end up at the Anfield after Jurgen Klopp’s side showed interest in the player who has been at the Stamford Bridge since 7 years ago.

Liverpool’s frontline is not deep in depth and there are concerns about injury which could deplete the squad especially with Sadio Mane and Mohammed Salah likely to play at the 2021 AFCON next January.

Meanwhile, the Blues want to bring in Philippe Coutinho who left Anfield for Barcelona but has failed to impress even after going to Bundesliga on loan with Bayern Munich.

There are also said to want to bring Jadon Sancho back to the Premier League from Borussia Dortmund. They are likely to face intense competition for his signature from Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Willian is resigned to playing for a new team next season despite having special interest in the club.

“Really a very beautiful story that I built at this club, I have a very special affection for the fans, for the people who work there and I identified myself a lot here.” Willian was quoted.

Willian joined Chelsea from Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk in 2013 and he is since played 226 appearances in all competitions with 33 goals scored.

Meanwhile, he started his professional career with Corinthians in 2006/2007 season before moving to Europe.

He won the Copa America with the Brazilian national team in 2019, he made the debut for the national team in 2011 making 70 appearances in all.
