Manchester City’s woeful form continues with loss to Juventus

Juventus earned a crucial 2-0 win over Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League, extending their unbeaten run in head-to-head matches against the Cityzens to six games. The victory marked a much-needed boost for the Bianconeri, who had been struggling in recent times.

The match was a closely contested affair, with both teams struggling to gain control of possession in the early stages. Manchester City had more of the ball, but Juventus created the first clear-cut chance of the game through Kenan Yıldız, who came close to scoring from range in the 20th minute.

The visitors finally began to create chances for Erling Haaland after the 37th minute, but Juventus’s defense held firm. Manuel Locatelli blocked Haaland’s shot, and Michele Di Gregorio rushed out to deny the Norwegian striker. Kevin De Bruyne created several opportunities for Manchester City, but Juventus’s defense remained solid.

The breakthrough finally came for Juventus in the 62nd minute, when Dušan Vlahović outjumped Joško Gvardiol and headed the ball past Ederson. Manchester City responded well, but were denied an equalizer when Bernardo Silva’s shot hit Danilo. Juventus sealed the win in the 84th minute when Weston McKennie volleyed home a cross from Timothy Weah.

The victory marked Juventus’s first win in five matches across all competitions and moved them up to 13th place in the UCL standings, just two points behind the top eight. In contrast, Manchester City have just one win from their last 10 competitive matches and sit 22nd, just one point above 25th-placed Paris Saint-Germain.

The loss will be a concern for Manchester City, who have been struggling to find their form in recent times. Juventus, on the other hand, will be looking to build on this win and climb up the UCL standings. Manchester City’s next game is the Manchester derby in the Premier League this weekend against their City rivals Manchester United.
