Manchester United got their first victory of the 2022/2023 Premier League season after beating Liverpool 2-1 on Monday evening to condemn Liverpool to a winless start in their first three games.
Both sides started the season slowly after losing their first two games, respectively, with the Red Devils losing Brighton and Brentford while Jurgen Klopp’s side drew Fulham and Crystal Palace.
The game on Monday saw Erik Ten Hag bench Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Maguire, and it yielded the dividends as the Old Trafford side pressed from the start.
Jadon Sancho gave United the lead in the 16th minute of the game, while they doubled the lead in the 53rd minute through Marcus Rashford.
Liverpool did pool one back through Mohammed Salah with nine minutes left on the clock, but the Reds still have to wait for their first win of the season.
Manchester United will face Southampton at the Saint Mary’s Stadium next weekend, while Liverpool will hope that they will get their first win of the season when they play Bournemouth at Anfield.
Meanwhile, Manchester United’s new signing Casemiro was unveiled to the Manchester United crowd before their game against Liverpool on Monday evening.
The Brazilian joined Manchester United for around 70 million pounds from Real Madrid. The Brazilian, who signed a four-year contract, revealed that the move was not motivated by money and stated his desire to start working with Ten Hag, United’s staff, as well as teammates.
“The opportunity to start a new challenge at Manchester United and in the Premier League is extremely exciting. I’m ending one beautiful journey in Madrid while starting another in Manchester as determined as ever to win football matches, win trophies and make our fans proud by bringing success to this great club.” Casemiro said.
