Manchester United need Harry Potter because they have so much to do – Jan Aage Fjortoft

Former Norway international Jan Aage Fjortoft reckons Manchester United will need a miracle to turn things around in the ongoing season of the Premier League. The Red Devils got off to a horrid start as they suffered a 2-1 defeat against Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday at Old Trafford.

This is Seagull’s first ever win at Old Trafford as they created history. However, it was a horrible start for Erik Ten Hag as his team was trailing by 2-0 at half-time.

Manchester United was poor in their defense and they definitely need to do a lot of work to turn the tables. Cristiano Ronaldo was benched and he was brought in the 53rd minute for Fred. However, the Portuguese also could not make any impact in the second half.

Pascal Groß scored twice for the visitors while Alexis Mac Alister scored his own goal in the 68th minute to give a ray to hope to United.

Jan Aage Fjortoft told ESPN: “He [Ronaldo] says I’m ready, the king can play but he goes home at half-time and so on. Having said that he may be their only hope with his goals. Brighton have got Graham Potter, Manchester United need Harry Potter because they have so much to do there and I would also like to talk about the Ajax school and the Ajax way of playing, this is not Ajax.”

“This is a team that hasn’t had a clear way of play for a couple of seasons. These are players without confidence, just running around, these players were leaking information out of the dressing room more than Titanic was leaking, there was a terrible culture. So I think before we can see Ten Hag’s Ajax philosophy sort of thing, you have to sort out the mindset of the players and it didn’t help today that he played players out of position.”

“Manchester United fans had 10 minutes of optimism and now they’re back and they hear that they’re going after Arnautovic, I mean if he’s the answer, who is going to ask the questions.”

Manchester United did look out of order and their defender Luke Shaw’s performance was not up to the mark. There is no doubt that Erik Ten Hag’s team will need to come up with a collective effort in the upcoming matches.
