In a bid to complete the signing of RC Lens striker Elye Wahi, Olympique de Marseille has submitted a second offer in an attempt to reach an agreement.
L’Equipe reported that the Ligue 1 club had already seen one bid rejected by Les Sang et Or for the former Montpellier forward.
Lens rejected the first bid for the French forward in the region of €20 million. This has prompted the Pas-de-Calais club to submit a new offer for Wahi, valued at an initial €22 million, with an additional €4 million loan fee that includes an achievable purchase option.
This is below the amount that Lens signed the young talent from montpellier which was in the region of €30 million.
After failing to live up to expectations last season in Northern France, both parties have agreed to sanction a transfer this summer. The 21-year-old already made known his intention, which is to play for OM next season, but his current employers are determined not to incur any financial loss in the event of his sale.
Meanwhile, Marseille has officially announced that Enzo Sternal has extended his stay in the club till the summer of 2027.
The 17-year-old was rewarded with a contract extension in the South of France, having shown to be one of the most exciting talents within the Marseille reserves and has been frequently involved in the club’s pre-season friendlies.
He has made an appearance in every game so far for Roberto De Zerbi’s squad. Since De Zerbi took over, things seem to have turned positive as the former AS Nancy Lorraine prospect had appeared unlikely to sign an extension with the club back in late May.
Reports said Sternal had been left unimpressed by Marseille’s contract offer of a one-year extension.
However, the latest developments show that the issues have since been resolved, as there may be more involvement this year for the promising crop of players that helped the club win the Coupe Gambardella (the U17 cup) last season.
He has also been provided with a new squad number (22).
