Mauricio Pochettino feels that it will be a dream to coach the best player amid Lionel Messi’s transfer link to PSG

Paris Saint Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino opened up on Lionel Messi transfer at the post match press conference after PSG defeated Troyes in their Ligue 1 opening fixture. Pochettino admitted that it would be an honour for him to coach the best player in the world.

In an unfortunate turn of events, Messi’s 21 years of association with Barcelona came to an end after they failed to meet an agreement with the Argentine talisman as they failed to stay within the La Liga wage restrictions. There knowing the situation PSG have moved very quickly in their attempt to land the 34-year-old Argentine at Parc des Princes.

If reports are to be believed then the Six-time Ballon d’Or winner will join PSG very soon and start a new journey in his career. There he will partner the likes of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and several other stars and help them win the elusive Champions League title.

PSG have started the season well with a 2-1 win over Troyes as new signing Achraf Hakimi scored the first goal whereas Mauro Icardi scored the winner. At the press conference, Pochettino spoke mostly regarding his compatriot and his transfer to PSG. He told reporters,” Messi is one of the best players in history and every coach dreams of coaching the best.”

The Argentine tactician feels that the players who played against Troyes were unscathed by Messi’s transfer links with the club. “The players are professionals. Today, with social networks, everyone has access to information and saw that Lionel Messi would not continue at Barcelona.

“His name has been associated with different clubs. But I believe that the team is professional and has ignored that for this game.
“And that they will stay focused until the end of the transfer window.”

PSG are very close to finalizing the deal with Lionel Messi and reports suggest that if they reach an agreement then he may have his medicals in the next 24 hours.

Teams like Manchester City and Chelsea were also in the market for the Argentine talisman but PSG have led this race from start to finish and if things go according to plan they will announce Messi very soon.

They already have players like Angel Di Maria, Leandro Paredes and Mauro Icardi along with Neymar who are trying to persuade Messi to choose the French capital as his next destination.
