Mbappé celebrates one year at Real Madrid with emotional tribute

Kylian Mbappé has marked the first anniversary of his highly anticipated arrival at Real Madrid with a heartfelt message to the club and its supporters.

The French forward took to social media to express his gratitude, writing, “A year ago. Grateful for all the love you’ve given me since day one. Hala Madrid.” His message comes after a debut season filled with individual brilliance and record-breaking performances, despite a trophyless campaign for the club.

Mbappé joined Real Madrid last summer on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, ending a long-running transfer saga. His unveiling at the Santiago Bernabéu was met with massive fanfare, and the 26-year-old wasted no time in living up to the hype.

In 59 appearances across all competitions, he scored 44 goals and registered five assists, immediately becoming a cornerstone of the team.

His impact in La Liga was particularly historic. Mbappé netted 31 league goals, setting a new record for the most goals scored by a debutant in the club’s league history. This achievement broke a 70-year-old record held by the legendary Alfredo Di Stéfano, who scored 27 goals in his first league season with the club.

Beyond his goal tally, Mbappé made history in several other ways. He became the first Real Madrid player to score in seven different competitions in a single season, showcasing his versatility and consistency on both domestic and international stages.

His performances earned him a place in the club’s history books and quickly endeared him to the Madrid faithful.

Despite Mbappé’s heroics, Real Madrid endured a disappointing 2024–25 campaign, finishing the season without silverware.

The team struggled to convert individual brilliance into collective success, but the forward’s stellar debut year has been widely praised as a bright spot in an otherwise frustrating season for the club.

Looking ahead, Mbappé is expected to take on an even more influential role under new head coach Xabi Alonso.

Real Madrid will kick off the 2025–26 La Liga season against Osasuna on August 19, with renewed hopes of reclaiming domestic and European glory. With Mbappé’s talent and leadership, the club is optimistic about what the future holds.
