Mbappé happy to get first Madrid goal

Real Madrid’s French striker Kylian Mbappé has revealed his excitement and delight in finally breaking nis Real Madrid deadlock in Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Real Betis in the La Liga. Kylian Mbappé who joined Los Blancos from French side Paris Saint-Germain in the summer on the free transfer, struggled in his first four games for Carlo Ancelotti’s side without hitting the target.

Mbappé made his Real Madrid competitive debut in the UEFA Super Cup against Atalanta without finding the back of the net despite the 2-0 victory. In the La Liga matches against Mallorca and Las Palmas ended in draws with a 3-0 win over Valladolid coming in between a string of inconsistent results.

Weekend’s home fixture against Real Betis made it worth the wait as Mbappé as he notched a brace. The first was from a slick Federico Valverde pass as he slot the ball pass the goalkeeper.

His second goal was also in the second half as he slotted home a penalty which brought a relief to Real Madrid fans who had been waiting to see him score in the white jersey and the French forward also described the moment as a big one as he had always waited to score at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“It was a great moment. I was hoping to score in this legendary stadium, the best in the world. Three games is not a lot for other players, but for me, it’s a lot. The club and fans have been with me; they give me the confidence to give everything. I feel great here. I’ve said it since I arrived, I’m happy. The fans and everyone at the club have shown me a lot of affection, even when I wasn’t scoring.” Mbappé said.

Real Madrid returns after the international break with a fixture against Sociedad in mid September.
