There have been the first real contact between AC Milan and Juventus regarding the possible transfer of striker Dusan Vlahovic to San Siro.
According to reports by Football Italia, Milan and Juventus’ indirect talks for Vlahovic are already underway.
The Serbian striker wants his future sorted after falling out of the pecking order at the Turin club.
The first genuine talks occurred indirectly because Milan are currently out on tour in Asia, while Juventus have been busy formalising other matters, including Federico Gatti’s contract extension and the sale of Samuel Mbangula to Werder Bremen.
It’s now left to see if Milan would be able to meet his release clause, and if the Serbian also wants the move.
According to reports, Massimiliano Allegri clearly wants the Serbian, his former colleague, on board, and that could convince Vlahovic to be keen on the idea of moving to San Siro.
Meanwhile, Juventus might have to pay the Serbian severance pay if he accepts a pay cut in order to join Milan.
There could also be discussions on how to spread the cost of the €12m salary that Vlahovic is owed for the final year of his Juventus contract in 2025-26.
As this is a genuine possibility if discussions around the severance pay go well, Vlahovic may likely join Milan in this transfer window.
Vlahovic seems to be interested in staying in Italy, having already turned down offers from elsewhere this transfer window, including approaches from the Turkish Super Lig.
Milan will need to offer a transfer fee between €18m-€20m for the forward, which Juventus could consider a fair request for an experienced 25-year-old centre-forward, who cost €70m three and a half years ago.
With this contact made, it is clear that Milan desires to make a move for Vlahovic and hopes to reach a full agreement with the Old Lady.
This could change in a matter of days should another club come in towards the end of the transfer window and Vlahovic express a preference in joining them over Milan.
For now, Milan seems to be the only option as they have to overcome some obstacles and jump through hoops, but the talks are now underway.
