AC Milan have delayed the signing of Victor Boniface from Bayern Leverkusen, reportedly due to some complications in his tests after doing his medical.

The Rossoneri were on the verge of signing the Nigerian striker on an initial loan deal before holding on as the striker returned to his parent club.

Speaking on the development, Milan director Igli Tare revealed that the club is yet to make ‘a final decision’ on whether to sign  Boniface after a series of medical tests.

After losing their opening match of the Serie A campaign to Cremonese, Milan will be seeking an immediate solution to their striker position after the exit of Tammy Abraham, who was also on loan from Roma, and the exit of Noah Okafor to Leeds United.

After Boniface went through a series of in-depth medical tests for two days and still hasn’t completed his transfer from  Leverkusen, Tare told DAZN Italia  that there were no extra medicals done on the striker, adding that the club want to make the right decision about the signing.

While admitting that the club is aware of the problems the Leverkusen striker had in the past, he said Milan are evaluating everything as planned with regard to his health and fitness.

 No doubting his qualities, Tare said Milan is just trying to make the right decision for this situation.

The deal agreed by both clubs is a paid loan with an option to buy at the end of the season for a fee of around €30m.

According to the latest reports,  Milan could ask the Bundesliga club for a discount on the loan, with an option to buy at the end of the season.

Tare said a decision would be made soon, as the transfer window remains open for a week before it closes.

“We will discuss it with the coach and make a final decision. We’re not putting pressure on ourselves with a deadline”, he added.
