Jayden Bogle made his first start for Sheffield United Saturday, but the result was much of the same as the Blades remain winless through 17 games. They came up short, 2-0 vs Crystal Palace Saturday afternoon.
United have scored just three goals all season, and have recorded zero clean sheets.
Palace scored their first goal by the fifth minute, with the second one coming right before halftime. In general, they played okay and did win the time of possession battle, but continue to struggle in creating scoring opportunities.
Despite winning the time of possession battle 56-44, the bLades had two fewer shots overall and two fewer shots on target. What’s potentially most frustrating is the six corners for Sheffield United vs just three for Palace. United must figure out a way to cash in.
The Blades are so desperate for offense that defender John Egan tried dribbling through the defense for a solo shot last Tuesday vs Burnley. He had one of the few shots on goal for the side that day as hope continues to dwindle for the now 20th-ranked team in the Premier League.
The January transfer window is potentially the only lifeline Sheffield United has remaining.
