PSG get double boosts ahead of Champions League clash

Paris Saint-German have got double boosts ahead of the Champions League game with the return of Balloon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembélé and Marquinhos to action following a period of absence due to injuries.

Dembélé who suffered a hamstring injury while on international duty with France at the start of September has been out of action for Les Bleus.

Since emerging the best footballer of the year, the former Barcelona winger who led PSG to their first UEFA Champions League champions title have been cautious returning to action quickly based on medical advice from the management.

As things stands, Le Parisien understands that he is unlikely to start in the Matchday three against former Bundesliga champion Bayern Leverkusen tonight.

However, he has now been included in re matchday squad to face Leverkusen on Tuesday and captain Marquinhos, who has also been absent with an injury in recent weeks returns to the fold and has been included in the matchday squad.

Meanwhile, the European champions are still without two important midfielders, Joao Neves and Fabián Ruiz. The duo remain out for Les Parisiens as they look to make it three wins on the bounce in this season’s UCL ‘League Phase’.

In another development, PSG have advanced in talks with Willian Pacho over a one-year contract extension.

This is following rave reviews about his performance that has drawn more suitors to him. The Champions League winners, according to a report from Le Parisien want to keep Ecuador international, who is expected to commit his future to the club.

Since joining Luis Enrique’s Les Parisiens from Eintracht Frankfurt last year in a €45m move, Pacho has established himself as one of the best left-footed centre-backs in the world.

The Ecuadorian is also one of Luis Enrique’s most-used players during the Ligue 1 side’s run to their maiden Champions League title.

According to reports,  PSG are used to entertaining contract renewal talks with their players when they entered their third campaign with the club. Hovewer, this was not the case with Pacho who earns a relatively low base salary that several European powerhouses could, at least, match.

Premier League champions Liverpool are monitoring his situation in France, after missing out on him the summer he joined PSG.
