Paris Saint-Germain are leading the race to sign Atletico Madrid’s striker Julian Alvarez.
As they are reportedly willing to meet the asking price of the 2022 World Cup winner, PSG are now in an advantageous position in the race to sign him.
According to a report from The Independent, if Alvarez moves to the French side, Goncalo Ramos could leave in the summer.
The Portuguese striker’s playing style has always seemed at odds with that of Luis Enrique.
This has led to him rarely featuring in the big games, and he has played a marginal role once again this season.
Despite that, some clubs are lining up should PSG be ready to sell him this summer.
Arsenal, who are also reportedly in the race, have also been able to meet his valuation.
It seems Enrique is willing to let go of Ramos as PSG are also showing interest in recruiting Alvarez.
PSG have shown interest in the striker to their counterparts at Atletico Madrid, and they are willing to pay Atletico Madrid’s €125m asking price.
Having held conversations with his representative, the European champions are pushing for a move as the La Liga side are likely to dig in their heels with regard to their valuation.
According to the Independent, Alvarez favours a move to Barcelona. However, the Catalan club cannot meet the asking price.
Another option are Arsenal, who are also interested in the Argentine and can meet the asking price.
However, they are considering how to best spend their budget as they are also in talks over a move for Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers.
As Alvarez seems to have also decided to leave Atletico, it will be a good deal for both parties instead of keeping a player who does not want to stay there, as they could get a significant fee for him.
So, it is expected that his future will be sorted out as soon as possible.
