Paris Saint-Germain appear to be preparing a replacement for winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who recently underwent successful ACL surgery.
The Ligue 1 giant confirmed the development in a statement on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old Georgian winger sustained the injury during a 4-2 win over Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League earlier this month, and it could rule him out for a whole year.
Kvaratskhelia will now begin rehabilitation from an ACL injury to his right knee, a blow that could also rule him out for the rest of the season.
It was reported that the operation forced Kvaratskhelia to miss the Ballonallon d’Or cer, ewhere at which English striker Harry Kane was announced the winner.
According to the French media. The operation took place at the Aspetar hospital in Doha, Qatar, and the Georgian will now continue his recovery.
This latest development means the former Napoli winger, one of the favorites to win the Ballonn d’O,r, came sixth and finished as thehighest-rankedt of PSG’s nine nominees for the prestigious individual prize, and will be on the sidelines for a long time.
This has led the club to set its sights on Ibrahim Maza, who plays for Bundesliga giant Bayer Leverkusen.
PSG seem keenly interested in the winger as they aim to defend their UEFA Champions League title for a second consecutive time.
As the report on the young Algerian appears to be from Skype Sport, they could try to sign him as early as the upcoming winter transfer window.
Manchester City, who were already interested in the 20-year-old last summer, are also said to be monitoring the development.
However, to retain the young talent who has become their star player, the Werkself have reportedly begun discussions with his representatives to secure a contract extension, which is due to expire in June 2030.
But an agreement remains a long way off as of this report.
Maza has made 10 appearances for Bayer Leverkusen since the start of the season, scoring three goals and providing three assists across all competitions.
