Rio Ferdinand urges Manchester United to go all out for Erling Haaland

Former Manchester United centre back Rio Ferdinand has urged United to go all out for Borussia Dortmund talisman Erling Haaland. The English defender feels that the Norweigian marksman can be the player who brings back glory to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils were keen to sign him during the winter transfer window of 2020 but the young striker chose to join Dortmund with their history of giving game time to talented young players. While Manchester United are still interested in the youngster, Haaland has taken the Bundesliga by storm. Therefore the 20-year old is now linked with several top clubs all across Europe which also includes the Red Devils.

Ferdinand recently said on his Youtube channel that United must do everything to be at the front of the line to sign the talented striker. He said, ” “You know what, they’ve just got to go and give everything to get Haaland, I don’t care.

“I don’t like to talk about players coming from other teams but this guy man, we can’t afford to let this guy go anywhere else.

“His only destination is England, that’s the only place he’s going. If he goes anywhere else I’d be so surprised.

“Born here, born and bred. He obviously loves English football, his dad played here. I’m sure it’s one of his dreams to come and play in England.

“Why not in the red shirt at Old Trafford? Be the guy that brings trophies back to Man United and brings the successful period back. Be that guy.”

The youngster is born in Leeds and his father Alf Inge Haaland has featured for both Leeds United and Manchester City and therefore he would also be keen to join the Premier League in future. However for now he is simply scoring goals for fun at Borussia Dortmund. He has found the back of the net 47 times in 48 appearances for the Black and Yellows.

While the Red Devils are also in the race for Haaland they are far from the front spot. Teams like Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Paris Saint Germain, Manchester City and even Bayern Munich have set their sights on the young marksman. Therefore it will be tough for Manchester United to lure the Norway International to Old Trafford. City are also keen as they are looking for a replacement for Sergio Aguero while PSG are also keeping their options open as there is a lot of transfer talk over their star Kylian Mbappe.
