Rodrygo impresses in Real Madrid’s win at Cadiz

Real Madrid cruised past Cádiz 3-0 to regain the top spot in La Liga on Sunday as Rodrygo scored a brace while Jude Bellingham equalled his 2022-23 scoring tally with his 14th goal of the season.

Real Madrid went into the game with a couple of injury problems, with the most recent being Brazil forward Vinicius Junior, who came back from the international break with a hamstring problem.

Real Madrid was forced to rely on Rodrygo and hope that Jude Bellingham, who sat out of the international break due to an injury of his own, would step up, and fortunately for Carlo Ancelotti, the two players stepped up for the Los Blancos and helped score the three goals that secured all three points away from home.

Real Madrid took the lead through Rodrygo in the 13th minute of the game before the Brazilian, who provided Jude Bellingham’s goal, scored his second 4 minutes after the hour mark. He was the provider 10 minutes later in the 74th minute as the former Borussia Dortmund man continued his impressive scoring form this season, which has now seen him score in all but four games this season.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti heaped praises on Rodrygo for his performance, which he said made the difference.

“Rodrygo is back. He made the difference today. He played a good game, with a good attitude and quality, managing the game well. We’re very happy because after the game, it can look simple, but you have to handle the game well, and that’s what we did from start to finish.

“Up to now, we’ve done very well; the team are competing and fighting for every game. Now we have other games, and it’s an important time in the season with important games coming up, especially in the league and in the group stages of the Champions League. Today’s game gives me confidence.” Ancelotti said.
