Giacomo Raspadori is about to become AS Roma’s new signing after facts emerged that Roma are close to reaching an agreement with him after a meeting with the striker’s representative on Wednesday.
Gazzetta dello Sport reported that the meeting had a positive outcome, indicating that the Italian striker will soon return to Serie A.
It was reported that the Giallorossi director, Frederic Massara, travelled to Milan on Wednesday to hold talks with the representatives of the former Napoli striker.
According to Gazzetta, the Italian striker also attended the meeting remotely via video call, and both parties appear to have reached an agreement with the signing of a formality.
Corriere dello Sport reported that Roma increased their offer for Raspadori by €500,000 to reach a full salary of €4m per season, having already reached an agreement with Atletico Madrid for a €2.5m six-month loan deal with an option to buy for €19m.
Roma are now close to reaching an agreement with the Italian striker.
It was also revealed that Napoli remain interested in securing his services, just six months after sending the 25-year-old to Madrid on a permanent deal.
Other clubs monitoring the situation include AC Milan and Galatasaray.
Meanwhile, Roma are still looking at signing another striker in this window, and Joshua Zirkzee is their next target.
However, talks are stalling, and Roma are reportedly considering keeping Evan Ferguson until the end of the season, while Leon Bailey could return to Aston Villa.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Roma considers keeping Ferguson, as the recent managerial change at Old Trafford has halted negotiations between the Red Devils and Roma.
Gazzetta reported that Roma had contacted Brighton to discuss Ferguson’s possible return to the English club during the January window, but the difficulties in getting Zirkzee might well convince Roma to retain Ferguson until the end of the season.
The Irish international has scored two goals and provided one assist in his last three Serie A appearances.
On the part of Bailey, the Jamaican has been struggling with injuries during his time in the capital and has only played 237 minutes across all competitions. He is therefore likely to return to the English club.
