Manchester City winger Savinho is open to leaving the Premier League champions this summer, with Tottenham Hotspur emerging as a serious destination as the transfer window gathers pace.
The Brazil international has become a key target for Spurs head coach Roberto de Zerbi, while City are fully aware of Tottenham’s interest in the 22-year-old. Discussions surrounding a possible move to north London are understood to be progressing, with Savinho keen to explore a fresh challenge.
Savinho joined City from sister club Troyes in July 2024 in a deal worth £30.8 million after impressing during a loan spell at Spanish side Girona. Tottenham had previously explored the possibility of signing the winger last summer, but City were unwilling to part with him at the time.
The attacker later committed his future to the club by signing a two-year contract extension in October, keeping him tied to City until 2031. Despite that long-term agreement, the player is now understood to be seeking a move during the current transfer window.
Savinho featured regularly under Pep Guardiola in his debut campaign, scoring three goals in 48 appearances across all competitions. However, his opportunities became more limited last season, when he made 36 appearances during Guardiola’s final year in charge. Increased competition for places, with Rayan Cherki and January arrival Antoine Semenyo both operating on the right flank, reduced his chances of securing a consistent starting role.
Although Savinho wants to leave, he has been included in Manchester City’s initial 28-man squad for the club’s pre-season tour of Asia. The travelling group features senior players who either exited the World Cup early or did not participate, including Phil Foden and Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Jack Grealish is the most notable absentee after a stress fracture in his foot ended his loan spell at Everton prematurely in January. The 30-year-old recently posted on social media that he is “hopefully not long now till back training for good” and shared footage of his individual training in Majorca on Tuesday.
New City manager Enzo Maresca also addressed Grealish’s situation, saying: “I have a good relationship with him [Grealish] and since I left we’ve been keeping in touch. He has a big heart and is a very good guy but we’ll see what happens.”
England goalkeeper James Trafford has also been left out as he closes in on a permanent move to Leeds United, while Rodri remains unavailable as he undergoes rehabilitation following back surgery. City’s pre-season schedule includes matches against Inter Milan, K League All Stars and Atletico Madrid during their tour of Asia.
