Several Premier League Clubs Seek the Services of John Stones

Manchester City paid £ 47.5 million to Everton in 2016 for English central defender John Stones. Pep Guardiola was barely six months after arriving at Etihad Stadium, and it seemed that the Stones would become a cornerstone of the Cityzens.

Stones only participated in 12 Premier League games last season, and it seems that the player is no longer part of Guardiola’s plans. The Spanish coach has put his trust in centrals Fernandinho, Eric Garcia, and Aymeric Laporte. The imminent arrival of Nathan Ake to the cityzens from Bournemouth, leaves Stones with zero to none options to see action next season.

Chelsea and Everton have expressed interest in the player, but it seems to be West Ham who could take over Stones’ services. Current Hammers coach David Moyes knows the player well from their time together at Everton, which could be a determining factor for him to sign with the club.

But West Ham may not have it so easy to get Stones, as reported by The Mirror, Ray Parlour, a former Arsenal player, has suggested during an interview with talkSPORT that the Gunners should sign Stones as soon as possible.

“Arsenal are desperate for a center-half… why don’t you take your chance and try and go in and bid for Stones?” Parlour said.

The price for Stones seems to be around £20 million, an affordable amount for the Gunners.

Ray Parlour is confident that Gunners coach Mikel Arteta can breathe new life into Stones’ career and make him a top player.
