Solskjaer: I’m building a new culture at Old Trafford

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seems unfazed despite their faltering displays so far this season in the Premier League. The Norwegian believes he is building a new culture at the Theatre of Dreams.

The Red Devils flattered to deceive on the opening game of the season when they thrashed one of their greatest rivals in front of thousands of fans. The Stretford End kept chanting Solskjaer’s name all day long.

Rashford was the cream of the crop for United, registering two goals, one of them being from the penalty spot.

Old Trafford faithfuls will be forgiven for thinking the Premier League title will finally return to Old Trafford after their flattering display against The Blues.

Since that goal-fest at the Theatre of Dreams, the Red Devils have been struggling to replicate the swagger and flair they exhibited on the opening game of the season. A hard-fought win against Rochdale and a run of one win in five Premier League games has thrown the future of the manager up in the air.

“What’s the problem at Manchester United?” – the rate at which this phrase has been thrown about recently can be compared with the frequency of Manchester downpours.
As Solskjaer spoke with enviable optimism with Sky Sports, torrential rain preceded autumn sun and torrential rain again.

“It’s not like the situation we had last year. There’s no lack of desire there. For us, it is about building a new culture, building a new team, bringing everybody together. Is it the job I expected? Yes. I never said this was going to be a quick fix job. It’s step by step”, Solskjaer reiterated.

The truth is, for all their struggles this season, there is actually a reason for fans to remain optimistic. The three summer recruits – Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire have been unbelievable this season. They have produced top performances, week in, week out.

This is a feat that Solskjaer’s predecessors struggled to achieve, with David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho unable to bring out the best from most of their signings.

Although the atmosphere at Old Trafford might have turned sour, there is enough reason for fans to keep their hopes up. When the manager talks like he knows what he is doing, the fans should be of full support all the way. Ole at the wheel!

Manchester United are priced at 2.50 to beat Arsenal FC in their next fixture. The Gunners are fancied 2.86 to claim victory, while a daw is backed at 3.56.
