“The responsibility does not lie with our club,” PSG boss Christophe Galtier takes a shot at Chelsea for the failed Hakim Ziyech transfer

The winter transfer window deadline day saw several clubs make their final moves to improve their rosters.Paris Saint Germain also targeted Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech but were keen to sign the creative winger. However, to their bad luck, the transfer fell through as the required paperwork was submitted after Tuesday’s transfer deadline. Therefore Ligue de Football Professionnel did not ratify the player’s contract as it was not in time.

According to reports, Ziyech had already passed the medicals and was mentally prepared to share the dressing room with the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr, Sergio Ramos and many more stars. Even the two clubs also reached an agreement which would see Ziyech joined the Parisians on a loan deal. But the deal did not go through as the Blues failed to send the required documents in time and the 29-year-old move to Paris got blocked.

PSG boss Christophe Galtier spoke about the incident following their 3-1 win over Montpellier. He opened up on Xiyech’s failed transfer and also highlighted that the youngsters present in the team will get more gametime as he is keen to avoid injuries and fatigue.

“For various reasons, we could not sign the player we had targeted. We have this workforce here. I have a quality workforce; the young people will have their say in this second part of the season. Obviously, in a busy calendar, you have to be careful with injuries and fatigue,” Galtier said at the post match press conference.

He shared that the team was keen to replace Pablo Sarabia with Hakim Ziyech as the former departed the club leaving them slightly thin on the wide areas. But he feels that there was no fault of the club as the deal did not go through. He was pretty sure that it was Chelsea at fault for not submitting the papers early enough but he did not blame the Blues publicly and took a rather diplomatic approach.

“I’m satisfied with the squad we had at the start of the season; we could have reinforced it following the departure of Pablo (Sarabia). We couldn’t do it. I believe that the responsibility does not lie with our club. That’s how it is; that’s life; we look ahead.” the Frenchman added.

Hakim Ziyech was mentally prepared to make the move to Paris and now with this he is very disappointed with the London outfit for blocking his move. The Parisians were after him for sometime and the clubs came to a mutual agreement on the deadline day and even after everything in place and Ziyech even passing the medicals, the deal did not go through just due to delay in submission of paperwork.

According to Telegraph Ziyech is very upset as Chelsea reportedly had sent incorrect documents thrice and failed to send the correct papers for registration as time ran out for the Ligue 1 giants and ultimately they could not sign the Moroccan.
