Tottenham cruise to 5-0 victory over Everton

Everton were dragged deeper into the relegation zone of the Premier League table on Monday evening when they were thrashed 5-0 by Tottenham Hotspur.

Everton has had an underwhelming Premier League season as they sat in seventeenth on the standings before the game while Spurs needed to win to stay in touch with the top four places.

The game started with Spurs finding the momentum and eventually opening the scoring from an own goal from Keane in the 14th minute. Afterwards, Son Heung Min doubled the advantage three minutes later.

Kane then scored the first of his brace with eight minutes of the first half left, while his second came in the 55th minute to make it 5-0 after Sergio Regulion’s 46th-minute goal in the second half.

Kane’s brace puts him ahead of Arsenal legend Thierry Henry while he is one goal behind Frank Lampard on the Premier League’s all-time goalscorers chart.

After the game, the England striker stated that no game in the Premier League is easy, calling the night a good one after scoring five against Frank Lampard’s men. He also cherished the record of toppling Thierry Henry’s goal record.

“Thierry was one of the greatest strikers we have seen, so nice to go above him in the scorers list, and hopefully they keep coming. The top four has to be our ambition. We are not the finished article yet, but the manager has had time to settle in, and physically, I think we are in a really good position.” Kane said.

Tottenham are now three points behind fourth-placed Arsenal despite sitting in seventh position on the log with 45 points.

The Gunners, though, have three matches in hand while Spurs have two. Arsenal have had a good momentum of late with wins, including the weekend’s 3-2 victory at Watford.
