Tottenham is in chaos after Conte’s departure

Antonio Conte’s departure from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was a matter of time. As the British newspaper Telegraph reported, “Tottenham is expected to agree this week to release Antonio Conte from the club.” But changing coaches in the season’s final stretch is not easy and the consequences can be very serious.

Cristian Stellini, interim head coach of Spurs, has stated this, admitting that they are experiencing a few chaotic weeks at the club. “A bit chaotic, absolutely a bit chaotic but we have big shoulders to consider this type of situation. We had an international break and that help because we have time to think about everything. The club and every one of us have to take a decision and the decision was taken for the best of everyone.” Stellini said and added, that despite the chaos, the club is not a crisis. “No, it’s not a club in crisis, absolutely not because everyone take the decision for the best and when you take the decision and you follow the process, you are not in crisis. If you have some matters, we have to be compact and stick together and go ahead and continue to move on and play the match. For us it is important to play the matches and try to win matches to show our desire. This is what we do normally and we cannot not be aware of the decision the club take, but we can be focused only on the pitch. This is our job. We are not confused, we are focused on our job.”

The situation of the club did not seem to warrant the departure of Conte since they are fourth in the Premier League and with good chances of qualifying for European tournaments. But the relationship between the manager, the players and the club’s presidency was not good.

The Italian coach called the Spurs footballers “selfish” and associated conformism and impassivity with the fact that Tottenham hadn’t won anything important in their entire history.
