Mikel Arteta about to break record

Mikel Arteta has been the talk of the town in the Premier League lately. The former Arsenal player turned head coach has been doing an excellent job with his team, and it’s showing on the pitch. Arsenal is currently sitting in first place in the league. If they continue performing this way, they could very well win their first league title since 2004.

Arteta’s approach to coaching has visibly paid off for Arsenal. He emphasizes a solid teamwork structure and encourages his players to play out from the back while keeping possession of the ball. This style of play has made the Gunners a difficult side to break down and allowed them to dictate games against some of England’s best teams.

The Premier League has recognized Arteta’s work, as he has been named manager of the month four times so far this season. The last recognition was received last March after he won four consecutive league games.

With his fourth best coach award, Arteta equaled the marks set by Pep Guardiola in the 2017-2018 season and Jurgen Klopp in the 2019-2020 season.

Klopp is the only one who has won it five times in the same season. But Arteta still has a chance to match or even break that mark, if he manages to win the award in April and May.

Arteta’s own rivals have recognized his excellent work; such was the case of Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag who, in an interview with Sky Sports, said,

“I think in the Premier League, there are many incredibly good coaches at this moment,

“He [Arteta] is definitely one of them. What he’s doing, he’s the best in this moment because it’s really a big performance, it’s huge what he’s doing.

“He’s managing his team, and they are so consistent, the most consistent team in the Premier League in this moment, playing incredible football. It’s fantastic.

“But we want to beat them. We are looking forward, and we beat them already one time, and we want to go for the second time. We know how to do it.”
