Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the permanent signing of French forward Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich in a deal worth around £30 million.
The 20-year-old striker will commit to a six-year contract, which will take effect when his current loan spell ends on June 30.
Tel joined Spurs on loan during the January transfer window and made 20 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals.
Although he didn’t feature in the final, he was part of the squad that lifted the Europa League trophy after defeating Manchester United in May — the club’s first European silverware in over a decade.
Initially, Spurs had an option to make the deal permanent for £45 million. However, club officials successfully negotiated a lower fee with Bayern, finalizing the agreement for a reduced figure of £30 million.
Tel is currently with the France squad at the European Under-21 Championship, where his performances have been closely monitored.
The young forward’s potential was evident during his time at Bayern Munich, but limited first-team opportunities in Germany prompted his move to North London.
His development under Tottenham’s new manager, Thomas Frank, will be keenly followed, particularly as Spurs look to rebuild their attacking options for the 2025/26 season.
In addition to finalizing Tel’s transfer, Spurs are eyeing further reinforcements. Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo has emerged as a top target, with interest also coming from Manchester United.
The 25-year-old forward previously worked with Frank at Brentford, increasing the likelihood of a reunion at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
