UCL: Mourinho roots for Inter ahead of clash with PSG

Former Inter Milan manager  Jose Mourinho has tipped his former club to win this season’s UEFA Champions League trophy while jokingly saying he didn’t want them to win the treble.

The Special One, as Mourinho is fondly called in an interview, explained why he did not want Simone Inzaghi and the Nerazzurri to win three major titles this season.

The former Chelsea manager, who led Inter to the treble in the 2019-20 season, is the most recent coach to win the Champions League with an Italian club. Nerazzurri beat Bayern Munich in the final at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Portuguese gaffer is also the only coach to win a treble with an Italian club.

Due to his achievements and records with the Italian giants, he joked during his interview with Sky Sports that he did not want Inter to win the treble.

Now that they lost the Serie A title to Napoli by a single point and ousted in the Coppa Italia by AC Milan, Mourinho is rooting for the Nerazzurri in the Champions League final.

He, however, said Luis Enrique deserved to also win the trophy for the work he has done since taking over at PSG.

“I’m going to be very naughty but very honest. I was worried they could win the treble because I didn’t want them to win the treble; the treble is mine.

The Ligue 1 champions are aiming to win the trophy for the first time after it eluded them against Bayern in 2020 seasons.

After the disappointment of the Coppa Italia and the Serie A, Inter will also hope to add the trophy to their collections of trophy. The final will be held on Saturday.
