Vinicius Jr apologizes to Real Madrid fans after El Clásico outburst

Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr has issued a public apology to supporters following his emotional reaction to being substituted during Sunday’s El Clasico victory over Barcelona.

The Brazilian forward, who was replaced in the 72nd minute of the 2-1 win, appeared visibly frustrated as he walked straight down the tunnel, sparking concern among fans and media.

The 25-year-old later returned to the bench before being involved in tense post-match scenes with Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal.

Taking to social media platform X on Monday, Vinicius said he regretted his actions, writing: “Today I want to apologize to all the Madridistas for my reaction when I was substituted in the Clasico. Just as I have already done in person during today’s training, I also want to apologize again to my teammates, the club, and the president.”

Vinicius explained that his outburst came from his competitive nature and deep passion for the club, stating that “sometimes passion gets the better of me because I always want to win and help my team.”

He added that his drive to succeed stems from the love he feels for Real Madrid and its supporters, vowing to continue giving his all for the club.

Since joining Real Madrid from Flamengo in 2018 for £38.7 million, Vinicius has become a key figure at the Bernabéu, scoring 111 goals in 335 appearances.

Despite his strong record, his future at the club has recently been the subject of speculation, with reports suggesting Madrid could consider offers for the forward if the right deal arises.

During Sunday’s match, cameras caught Vinicius expressing his frustration as he left the pitch, reportedly saying, “Always me! I’m leaving the team! It’s better if I leave.”

However, in his latest post, the winger reassured fans of his commitment, writing, “I promise to keep fighting every second for the good of Real Madrid, as I have done since the first day.”

Vinicius’ statement notably did not reference manager Xabi Alonso, amid reports of tension between the pair following the substitution incident.
