Walker unsure of Milan’s future

England international Kyle Walker remains unsure of what the future holds for his football career, saying that will be decided next summer.

The right-back is on loan with the Rossoneri from Manchester City and could join them on a permanent deal at the end of the season.

However, the former Manchester City captain admitted that he would have to wait until the end of the season to find out where his future lies.

He added that he is ‘just on loan here’ in Milan as his journey with Manchester City technically isn’t ‘fully closed.’’

The 34-year-old had reportedly had an agreement with the Rossoneri to sign him for a fee in the region of €5m at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

Speaking on his eponymous Kyle Walker Podcast on BBC Sounds, Walker said Milan and Man City still have to agree to a transfer in the summer.

“When you come to say goodbye, it’s hard. After I said my goodbyes, Pep got up and spoke and said a nice message to me, just saying thank you for everything.

“I’ve got to consider that I can go back; obviously, both parties need to agree by the end of the season. Listen, the chapter’s not fully closed, but we’ll see what happens.”

The Englishman has played 29 games this season, nine of which were for Milan, having begun his season with the citizens.

Since joining Sergio Conceicao side, he has become a first-team player manning the right back. He played 90 minutes in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-finals against city rivals Inter Milan, which ended 1-1.

Should Milan make the deal permanent, they can rely on the experience of the Englishman. It’s, therefore, left for the concerned parties to come to an agreement ahead of the summer transfer window.

Walker will also have another opportunity to add to his trophy cabinet should he choose to stay, as City will be participating in the club World Cup competition in the summer.
