“We can play like this everywhere,” says PSG boss Christophe Galtier after his team’s 3-0 win over Marseille

Paris Saint Germain sailed past Olympique Marseille 3-0 in their recent Ligue 1 clash. The win will surely give the players and manager Christophe Galtier a lot of confidence ahead of their away clash against Bayern Munich in the Champion’s League. Galtier was very delighted with his players as he went on to say that his team is capable of winning like this against any opposition regardless of the circumstances or the venue.

The match between Paris Saint Germain and Marseille is considered the biggest game in France. But the way the Parisians defeated their rivals in the Le Classique at the Orange Velodrome marked as their best performance of the current season. Courtesy of the big win, PSG are now eight points clear at the top of Ligue 1.

Galtier was very happy with the result as his players played flawless football and it will surely boost their morale ahead of the second leg against Bayern Munich. Galtier speaking to Prime Video Sport shared that his switch to a three man backline helped the team to control proceedings and also provided them with the balance in structure that was needed against Marseille.

“We reverted to a formation that already worked for us. Presnel Kimpembe’s return allowed us a better defensive foothold and more density in midfield. The way the team played tonight gave us a sense of relief. If we can play like this at Marseille’s Velodrome, we can play like this everywhere,” Galtier stated after the 3-0 win.

On the big night Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe stepped up and were the biggest gamechangers for the visitors. It was in the 25th minute that Messi had calmly slipped a ball past the Marseille defense to Mbappe who is just too good to make a mistake from that range. The Frenchman handed PSG the lead and within four minutes he swapped roles with Messi and turned provider. Mbappe worked his way up with on the left after a neat passing play with Nuno Mendes before sending a cross in towards the far post as Messi calmly slotted it past the goalkeeper to double the lead. It was a landmark moment from the 7-time Ballon d’Or winner as this was his 700th club goal.

The duo combined once again in the second half at 55th minute when Messi’s chip over the Marseille defense was volleyed home by Mbappe. It was the final blow for the hosts as Galtier’s men went away with all three points.

PSG lost 1-0 against Bayern in the first leg at the Parc des Princes as Kingsley Coman scored the solitary goal for the visitors. Hence they will be looking to keep up this form in the second leg when they travel to the Allianz Arena for the second leg on 9th March. PSG will play Nantes in between before their trip to Germany.
