We have to stick together – Erik Ten Hag after recent slump

Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag reckons they have to stick together during the recent slump. The Red Devils suffered a 2-0 loss against West Ham at the London Stadium on Saturday as their horrid run in the Premier League continued.

This was Manchester United’s eighth loss of the season and they will need to turn the corner. Furthermore, this was their 13th loss across all competitions, making their worst start since 1930.

The gaffer reckons they need to stick together in these tough times and they will have to get the job done collectively.

Meanwhile, Manchester United won the Carabao Cup in the previous season and also finished at third place in the Premier League. But things have gone south in the ongoing season.

“In 2023, we won a Cup, we played the FA Cup final, we were third in the league. There were highlights but we are over-performing, but in this moment we are underperforming,” Ten Hag said.

“There are reasons for it, we have many injuries, so the team will be better if the injured ones return.

“We have to be calm, stick together, stick to the plan, we have to do it together.”

Jarrod Bowen scored in the 72nd minute whereas Mohammed Kudus doubled the West Ham’s lead after six minutes. Ten Hag reckons they were good in the first 72 minutes but could not take their chances despite dominating possession.

“I think it was a decent 72 minutes where we didn’t take our chances. We should have gone in the lead but we didn’t and then it was one moment of switching off,” he said.

“He (Alejandro Garnacho) was one on one with the keeper and he could’ve taken it but we didn’t.”

Manchester United will next take on Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.
