Scuderia-Ferrari has confirmed that their car for the 2023 season would be launched on Tuesday, February 14. No other details are known at the moment except that the car’a code name is project 675. Ferrari’s launch would happen a day after Aston Martin would reveal their new car.
Ferrari’s 2023 car would build on the success they garnered in 2022, which saw them finish second on the constructor’s leaderboard and their driver, Charles Leclerc, came second, although more than 100 points behind 2022 champion Max Verstappen. Even though the team would not agree with the improved performance in 2022, it was a big step up from previous years. Charles Leclerc won races a few times in 2022, and either he or teammate Carlos Sainz finished in the top 3 spots more than once. This is more than we have seen from the team in recent years.
Development of the 2023 car started even when the 2022 season was still ongoing, as Ferrari themselves confirmed when it became apparent they would not be the title winners. They have also replaced their team boss, Mattia Binotto, who left ‘voluntarily,’ with Fred Vasseur. So, by all indications, Ferrari is hoping to have a better campaign in 2023 and hopefully win the title for the first time in 15 years.
A day before Ferrari would launch their car, Aston Martin would reveal the AMR23 to the world. After finishing seventh in 2022, Aston Martin is expected to make some enhancements to their car and improve on the small successes they gained in the second half of the 2023 season. They would also have a new driver in the person of Fernando Alonso, who would take over from Sebastian Vettel, who retired at the end of 2022 season.
More teams are expected to announce their launch dates soon, with the pre-season slated to begin on. February 23, the week after Aston Martin/Ferrari’s announced launch week.
