The 2025 Formula 1 season is gearing up to be one of the most thrilling yet, with significant driver changes and fresh talent set to hit the grid. The season will kick off on March 16 at Albert Park, featuring a total of 24 races that promise to keep fans on the edge of their seats.
One of the most talked-about moves is Lewis Hamilton’s switch to Ferrari, signaling the end of his illustrious tenure with Mercedes. Joining him at Ferrari will be Charles Leclerc, who remains under a long-term contract.
In another notable reshuffle, Carlos Sainz will make his way to Williams, where he will partner with Alex Albon. Meanwhile, George Russell will continue at Mercedes, now joined by rookie Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who is making his debut in F1.
The 2025 grid will also welcome six exciting rookies. Ollie Bearman is set to drive for Haas while reigning Formula 2 champion Gabriel Bortoleto joins Sauber alongside veteran Nico Hülkenberg, who has signed a multi-year deal. Jack Doohan steps into the seat vacated by Esteban Ocon at Alpine, while Liam Lawson is poised for his first full season with Red Bull, partnering with Max Verstappen, who is contracted until 2028.
Stability seems to be the theme for some teams. Aston Martin retains its dynamic duo of Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll for another year. McLaren also maintains continuity with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, both on long-term contracts, ensuring they can build on their previous successes.
While teams finalise their preparations for the upcoming season, there are guesses over what could make the most impact in 2025 – skills or car build. Already, there are some teams and players to watch out for, due to a number of reasons. Ultimately, the questions posed now will be answered at the end of the season, after giving teams the chance be at their best all season long.
