The Weeknd To Perform At The Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show

It’s being announced that The Weeknd will headline the Pepsi Super Bowl halftime show. The pop star is set to bring his popular resonating falsetto voice to the 2021 edition of the show to be held on on Feb. 7 at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

This announcement was made by the trio of the NFL, Roc Nation and Pepsi. The three-time Grammy winner has expressed his joy over the announcement, admitting he was humbled to be the star man of the show.

The Weeknd made this known to his fans via his social media page where he posted the logo of the halftime show.

“We all grow up watching the world’s biggest acts playing the Super Bowl and one can only dream of being in that position,” the Can’t feel my face crooner said in a statement. “I’m humbled, honored and ecstatic to be the center of that infamous stage.”

The Grammy winner first broke through into mainstream music with the single titled “Can’t feel my face”. The smash hit was featured in his second album, “Beauty Behind the Madness,” which won the Grammy in 2015 list and topped a long list of songs from bigger stars on the Billboard Hot 200 Albums.

The singer has also had three top charting albums since then. His ‘Starboy’ album and song ‘Earned it’ also have some Grammy credits to their name.

“The Weeknd has introduced a sound all his own,” said the founder of Roc Nation. “His soulful uniqueness has defined a new generation of greatness in music and artistry. This is an extraordinary moment in time and the Pepsi Super Bowl LV Halftime Show is going to be an extraordinary experience with an extraordinary performer.”

This isn’t the first time the trio of Roc Nation, Pepsi and NFL will be collaborating. In fact, it is the second.

“We are thrilled to have The Weeknd join us in Tampa Bay on the Pepsi Halftime Stage,” said Brian Rolapp, the NFL’s chief media and business officer. “Halftime show performances have a history of excellence and creativity and we look forward to seeing what he will bring to Super Bowl LV.”
