Carlos Alcaraz is a great player, but ‘Nadal’ is a big word, says David Ferrer

Former World no.3 David Ferrer has tipped Carlos Alacar to win many Grand slams in his career and become the world’s no.1 player in the ATP rankings. However, the former Spanish player said Rafael Nadal is a big word.

Alcaraz has hogged the limelight for his solid play and he has definitely shown the skills to go a long way in his career. The youngster has shown the right promise and he has often been compared to Rafael Nadal as they have a lot of similarities in their game.

Both Alcaraz and Nadal are known for their never-give-up attitude on the court. However, the youngster still has a lot to prove in his career but he is surely on the right path.

“Alcaraz is a great player, and without a doubt, he is going to be a much better tennis player than me, that is very clear to me, but Nadal is a big word,” Ferrer told Super Deporte.

“Carlos has to make his career, but I’m sure he’s going to reach number one and win grand slams, because mentally he’s a very well-established player.”

Meanwhile, Nadal has won 22 Grand slam titles in his illustrious career whereas Alcaraz is yet to open his account. The youngster was one of the favorites at Roland-Garros but he could not go all the way.

Ferrer added that Alcaraz has the right team, which is guiding him on the right track.

“I know his team very well, from his representative Albert and his coaching staff with Juan Carlos Ferrero at the helm, who has also had the experience of being world number one, and has very clear ideas.”

Alcaraz has made it to the final of the Hamburg European Open and he will face Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti in the finale of the tournament.
