First time quarterfinalist Marton Fucsovics feels Novak Djokovic is no different than Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal

Hungarian tennis star Marton Fucsovics came up with an upset in the fourth round of Wimbledon when he defeated Andrey Rublev to book a quarterfinal date with Novak Djokovic.

It was a gruelling encounter for Fucsovics as it took five sets to beat the young Russian. The Hungarian won 6-3, 4-6, 4-6, 6-0, 6-3 to progress through to the quarterfinals.

In what will be his first Grand Slam quarterfinal, the Hungarian claimed Djokovic to be one of the greatest players and also explained why he is the favourite to win everything in the sport right now.

“Obviously he (Novak Djokovic) is one of the greatest players,” Fucsovics said. “He won this tournament so many times. He’s very solid, very consistent from the baseline. He’s playing his best tennis. He won the French Open lately, and now he’s playing really good.”

He praised the Serb’s groundstrokes and his impressive acceleration. However, he also claimed that Djokovic lacks that natural flair and poise like Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

“His style might not be as flashy as Roger’s or Rafa’s, but he has impressive acceleration in all of his shots whether it’s backhand or forehand,” added Fucsovics.

Fucsovics then further went on to say that according to him all the players of the Top 3 are greats of the game. He does not see any trait of Djokovic and keeps in ahead of Federer Nadal and vice versa.

“I have no doubt that the members of the Big 3 are the best players in the history of tennis,” added the Hungarian. “For me there are no differences between them, it is impossible to choose one over the other. Now all I want is to focus on my job and be ready to give my best against Novak. ”

Lastly the 29-year-old was overwhelmed with emotions when he realized that he has reached the last eight of a Grand Slam. He is just happy to feature at the prestigious Center Court and play such a top class opponent.

“This is the first time I reached the quarter-final in a Grand Slam,” he added. “Hopefully I get to play on the Centre Court and I want to enjoy every moment of it.”
